Master's in Political Science, N+ certification, administration in multimillion dollar company.
My master's degree futhered my knowledge of this field and gave me the academic background to ask the right questions and find reliable sources for the answers. As importantly, I was a teaching assistant at this time which helped me break out of my shell and find my voice. My undergrad had taught me to value my knowledge; my graduate degree taught me to share it with others. I also had the priviledge of editing and adding content to the department website and building a Facebook page for the department which I ran for a few years after graduation. I also acted as a research assistant dealing with a very large data set concerning electoral systems. This led me to understand the value of data driven statistical analysis in politics which I would later apply to business environments.
My focus was on international relations, and issues of war and peace: international law; Constitutional Law; and the philosophic underpinnings of these. My focus personally and academically has always been on how to create a more peaceful world with human rights for everyone. In the course of this study I determined that American foreign policy is built in large part on our domestic politics: it cannot exist without a culture which supports, creates and reaffirms it. This puts me in the Constructionist school of foreign policy. The practical implication is I became even more interested and concerned about American domestic politics: I see political engagement as a personal challenge, an academic challenge, and more importantly, as a responsibility as a citizen of this great country!
